Keepcompany

How we keep it safe

Four facts, then what the safety floor does. Nothing on this page is a promise that nothing will go wrong. It says what the service does.

The characters are AI

Every character on Keepcompany is artificial intelligence. No person is writing the replies. A character says so if you ask. The notice you see before you meet them is written by us, not by the character. Pictures characters send are machine-made and marked as AI-generated.

What a character says is invented. It is not advice.

Adults only

Keepcompany is for people aged 18 and over. Characters must be adults too: age fields on a character are checked by the software, and text that reads as a minor is checked separately.

When you first sign in, you confirm that you are 18 or older before anything else. If you say you are under 18, the account is removed. If what you write in a chat suggests you may be under 18, the characters stop replying normally and send only a short fixed message until a person on our team has looked at it.

Report a problem

Every message has a menu. Choose Report a problem to flag that message. The report is saved with the message it is about, so it can be looked at later.

Reports are read by people on our team, not by the AI. They see the reported message, the two before it and your note.

The safety floor

Some things are never supported. They are stopped by software that runs outside the AI model, so a model that has drifted off course cannot talk its way past them. When one of them is hit, the message or picture does not go through, and the service says so plainly in its own words, never in a character's voice.

Checks on anything involving minors are layered: at least two independent checks of different kinds at each point, and a check that fails or times out blocks instead of letting the content through. The checks cover characters when they are created or imported, the player's messages, the characters' replies, and pictures. A picture is made from fixed choices and, for a character's portrait, the appearance its creator describes, which is checked first. It is never made from chat messages or from text the model writes.

What the AI writes is not trusted either. Anything a character produces that feeds another part of the service, such as a picture request or a memory, goes through the same checks as a message from you.

Not a crisis service

Keepcompany is not a crisis service and is not a substitute for one.
